  Wear It

In Bakersfield, where the sun blazes and the oil flows, a man’s worth is measured by the grit on his boots and the scent on his collar. After a day in the patch, he doesn’t just wash off the oil, he elevates it. He steps into Pyrenees CafĂ©, the aroma of pickled tongue in the air, and every head turns. At the Tam O’Shanter, he orders a drink, and the bartender knows—this man wears The Baron. Because in a town where oil is king, The Baron is the crown. The Baron. Refined, like your crude. -- Author unknown

Launched in 1961, favored by Dennis Payne, who sung about oilfield workers and even had a short fling in the profession. Some Bakersfield oil field workers though were not sold, describing it as "a bit floral," leading to being tabbed dangerously as sissy-bait at the Blackboard on a crowded Saturday night. Woe be unto you.
